HDIBC at the 2026 Harpenden Highland Gathering

Looking for a great fun family day out this summer?
The Highland Gathering comes to Harpenden on Sunday 12 July from 10.30am - 5pm at Rothamsted Park.
With children's races, go-karts, archery, pipe bands, highland dancing, live music, great food stalls, your chance to try haggis hurling and even caber tossing, there's something for all ages to enjoy!
Step back in time with Prince Rupert's Bluecoats - prepare to be transported to the 1640s, a tumultuous era of Cavaliers and Roundheads, as we explore Parliament's historic struggle against the King during the English Civil War.
The fun events of the day also include:
- Live performances from the Upbeat Choir, Dance Studio, the Sunny Side Up band and singer, John Knowles.
- Highland Games including Have-a-Go Caber Toss and Haggis Hurling
- An opportunity to try your hand at archery
- Go karting
- Dance competition
- Ferret races
- Face painting
- Fantastic market stalls
- Great food and drink stalls, including the Plough & Harrow and Engineer joint Beer Tent
